Dr. Cora Young

Biography

Dr. Cora Young is the Guy Warwick Rogers Chair in Chemistry at York University. Dr. Young completed her B.Sc. (Hons) and Ph.D. at the University of Toronto. Her Ph.D. thesis was on the atmospheric chemistry of polyfluorinated compounds. She then held an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship in the lab of Dr. Steven Brown at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the University of Colorado, Dr. Young received the Colorado Governor’s Award for High-Impact Research. Prior to becoming a faculty member at York University, she held a faculty position at Memorial University of Newfoundland since 2012. Dr. Young conducts research on environmental chemistry, using state-of-the-science analytical techniques to characterize chemicals, their sources, and their fates in the environment. and has previously held awards from NSERC at the undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral level. She has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles, which have been cited over 1800 times. Her h-index is 22.
