InnoTech Alberta (ITA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alberta Innovates, a for-profit corporation conducting applied research and development in Alberta. It was spawned from the Alberta Research Council (ARC) which was launched in 1921, evolving into an applied research and development (R&D) corporation that developed and commercialized technology to grow innovative enterprises. It was re-organized into Alberta-Innovates Technology Futures in 2010 and then into ITA. ITA has over 300 employees and offers a diversified range of scientific, engineering and technological research and testing capabilities, and the facilities to support technology scale-up. Our multi-disciplinary team has the depth of experience to work across all sectors, including Oil and Gas, Food and Fibre, Environment, and Health. ITA operates in five facilities located throughout Alberta, with extensive laboratory and computing infrastructure and full administrative support. The Ecosystems and Plant Sciences Functional Group helps Alberta build sustainable resource management capacity through research, development, and deployment of scientifically valid ecosystem management tools. Our team of research scientists and technicians apply research to maintain wildlife, vegetation, and natural processes within ecosystems.
