Canadian Mountain Network Knowledge Sharing Summit 2023
The Canadian Mountain Network (CMN) is hosting its 3rd Annual Knowledge Sharing Summit from September 25-28th, 2023 in Parksville, Vancouver Island, BC, at the Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort & Conference Centre.
The theme of the Summit this year is Moving Mountains through Braiding Knowledges.
This is CMN's final Knowledge Sharing Summit after 5 years of excellence in mountain research as well as the ground-breaking work of braiding Indigenous and Western knowledges.
The Knowledge Sharing Summit brings together Indigenous organizations and communities, university researchers, government, business, industry and not-for-profit partners to mobilize knowledge about mountain systems with a focus on Indigenous-led and co-led research.
CMN is the country’s first formal research organization dedicated to advancing our understanding of mountain systems, which provide important benefits to Canadians living both near and far from these distinctive and iconic landscapes. CMN supports research that is centered on a holistic approach based on Indigenous and Western ways of knowing.
Goals of the Summit:
Engage the CMN community of research teams, collaborators, extended community, and the general public.
Mobilize knowledge created within the Network, or with the support of CMN.
Inform and raise awareness about the opportunities and challenges related to environmental change in mountain systems across Canada and internationally and the necessity of braiding knowledges to contribute to better decision-making.
