The Canadian Mountain Network (CMN) is proud to announce the official launch of the CMN Mountain Portal.
The CMN seeks to provide mountain researchers, enthusiasts, and community stakeholders with opportunities to connect, collaborate, and share learnings about our mountain landscapes. The Mountain Portal provides these opportunities in an accessible and interactive online space.
The Mountain Portal combines mountain news with Canadian mountain research features and researcher profiles. The Portal is also a hub for CMN activities, including community outreach and news of upcoming events. Since its early launch on September 30, 2016, the Portal has chronicled dozens of researchers and affiliates from educational institutions, government, non-government organizations, businesses, and indigenous communities who contribute to the deep well of Canadian mountain knowledge. The Mountain Portal improves the accessibility of this knowledge, by telling stories that communicate research outcomes with the general public.
All mountain community stakeholders are encouraged to share their ideas and experiences with the CMN via the engagement forms and surveys accessible on the Mountain Portal. Public input is compiled and presented at CMN Initiating Group meetings to help guide the formation of regional priorities. Notes and outcomes from these meetings are also available online.
The Mountain Portal’s sister site, internationalmountainday.ca, is a platform for all Canadians to connect with International Mountain Day celebrations at various locations across the country.
Expect even more exciting and informative features and updates from the CMN on our Mountain Portal in the days to come!
