The World Mountain Forum is bringing together worldwide stakeholders dedicated to sustainable mountain development. The goal of the Forum is to enhance the protection and awareness of mountain ecosystems and communities through collaboration and political dialogue. Attendees will discuss how to balance mountain development with the environmental protection goals set by the Paris Agreement in 2015.
Discussion at the World Mountain Forum this year is organized under four key sub-themes to bring attention to climate change, communities and livelihoods, ecosystem services, and sustainable agriculture in the context of worldwide mountain landscapes.
Canadian Mountain Network Yukon Initiating Group member Kate Harris is attending the World Mountain Forum in Mbale, Uganda, as part of the International Institute of Sustainable Development’s Earth Negotiations Bulletin team. She, and her team, will be posting a summary online following the conclusion of the Forum at IISD Reporting Services.
