International Mountain Day
The Canadian Mountain Network is hosting the first annual Mountain Festival on December 9 – 16, 2016 at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton. The Mountain Festival features an Alpine Art show on December 15.

The Mountain Festival coincides with the United Nations’ International Mountain Day on December 11. The 2016 theme for International Mountain Day is Mountain Culture: celebrating diversity and strengthening identity. The CMN is looking for 5 student artists to showcase their work that speaks to the United Nations’ theme in a Canadian context.

The Art show will take place in the Myer Horowitz Lounge area. Members of the University faculty, regional governments, U of A student body and the public will be attending. The space is flexible to accommodate various art forms. The Canadian Mountain Network would prefer pieces that allow the audience to connect the art with their own experiences of mountain culture.

In your proposal please include a description of your work including how it relates to the 2016 United Nations’ International Mountain Day theme in a Canadian context, dimensions, and your exhibition plan.

Please submit your proposal to artsace@ualberta.ca.

Proposals from students will be accepted until November 15, 2016.
