Alida Thomas

Biography

Alida Thomas is a graduate student in the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She is particularly passionate about human rights, climate justice, and intersectional gender equity. Her academic and work background includes international development, conflict resolution, labour relations, and environmental studies, and impact analysis. In addition to the CMN, She serves as the Board Chair for Flavours of Hope, a Vancouver-based charitable social enterprise that supports and empowers refugee newcomer women to earn a livable income and build social connections in communities through cooking and sharing culinary traditions and stories. She lives in Vancouver, feels most at home in the BC Coastal Mountains and is a long-distance runner and triathlete.
