Julie Buysse
Biography
Julie Buysse is the GIS Officer at the Cultural Places Program. Julie has fifteen years of experience in the geomatics field, working with federal, provincial and territorial agencies. For the past seven years, she has provided the Cultural Places Program with GIS analysis and technical expertise to help manage the protection of cultural places. In doing so, she has created a GIS-model to assess the level of risk to NWT archaeological sites that are under threat from climate change impacts. She is the registrar of official archaeological sites in the NWT, and maintains this growing archaeological record of spatial and attribute information. She works to improve our geographic place name dataset by systematically delineating the full spatial extent of named topographic features throughout the NWT.
