Biography

Kara Pitman is a PhD Candidate in the Earth2Oceans group at Simon Fraser University, British Columbia. Her research centres on climate change and its impact to rivers and migratory salmon in the Pacific Northwest. It remains a key challenge to understand how river systems, consisting of interconnected people, landscapes, and fish, respond to current and future climate change. This uncertainty of climate impacts challenges policy makers, decision-makers, and communities that are involved with salmon conservation. With my PhD thesis, I hope to tackle some aspects of this topic.
