Announcement: CMN Leadership Transition
After more than two years with the Canadian Mountain Network, Dr. Stan Boutin has transitioned out of his roles as co-Research Director and President, effective July 1, 2020. CMN’s Board of Directors is grateful for Boutin’s service and record of accomplishment.
In 2018, Boutin provided collaborative leadership with CMN co-Research Director Norma Kassi to develop CMN’s successful application to the Government of Canada’s Networks of Centres of Excellence program and secure a five-year, $18.3 M grant to support mountain systems research, training, knowledge mobilization and networking. In 2019 and 2020, he supported the organization’s launch as an independent not-for-profit organization hosted by the University of Alberta, the funding of 16 innovative research projects across Canada, and the development of the Network’s Strategic Plan.
Boutin will continue as a CMN Principal Investigator leading the network-funded research program Effects of climate change and human activities on mountain species and ecosystems.
CMN’s Managing Director, Matthew Berry, is now leading network operations and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Inquiries with respect to CMN’s research program can also be directed to Norma Kassi, CMN co-Research Director, or Andrew Applejohn, Chair of the Research Management Committee.
