Request for Canadian submissions to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Sixth Assessment Report’s ‘Cross-Chapter Paper on Mountains’
At the 46th session of the IPCC in Montreal in September 2017, the outline for the IPCC Working Group II contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) was approved, including a Cross-Chapter Paper on Mountains. This chapter will synthesize available literature about climate change impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability in mountain environments and communities, and has led to requests for submissions of relevant articles from mountain researchers globally.
In an effort to increase the representation of Canadian mountain systems in the Cross-Chapter Paper on Mountains, we are issuing a specific call for papers produced by the Canadian mountain research community. Articles should address themes within the purview of IPCC Working Group II, and should have been published since March 2013 (i.e. since the publication of IPCC AR5).
The IPCC author team is especially interested in review and synthesis papers; however, all articles relevant to impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability in Canadian mountain systems may be submitted for consideration. For papers currently under development, cut-off dates set by the IPCC require articles to be: 1) submitted for publication by 1 July 2020 and 2) accepted for publication by 1 May 2021.
Please submit relevant publications to the Mountain Research Initiative’s IPCC article repository. This repository will remain open for contributions until the 1 May 2021 cut-off date for accepted papers.
For any questions about the suitability of articles for the Cross-Chapter Paper on Mountains, please contact Graham McDowell: firstname.lastname@example.org
