About Initiating Groups

The Initiating Groups

The Initiating Groups are regional groups representing local interests in Alberta, British Columbia, Northwest Territories, and Yukon. The Initiating Groups form an important link between researchers, stakeholders, mountain community members, and the Administrative Centre of the Canadian Mountain Network. The Initiating Groups provide regular feedback on the initiatives of the CMN and have weighed in to identify mountain researchers, stakeholders, and communities; and to identify mountain research priorities.

The Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Yukon Initiating Groups first met in June and September of 2016, and the British Columbia Initiating Group first met in November of 2016. The Initiating Groups are open to all interested individuals, governments, groups, and organizations.
