Gordon Yakeleya is K’áalǫ Got’ı̨ nę (Willow Lake Dene), born and raised as a hunter and trapper in his traditional territory. He has been a community leader in a variety of elected positions for many years, including the roles of Chief, Mayor, and President of the Tulı́ t’a Land Corporation. He has been a longstanding advocate for community on the land programming and traditional knowledge research, and has considerable experience mentoring his own children, students, and other youth in on the land activities including the annual fall and spring K’áalǫ Túé (Willow Lake) duck and goose hunt, Take a Kid Trapping, and other activities. He is now President of the Tulı́ t’a Ɂehdzo Got’ı̨ nę, a Special Advisor to the SRRB, and member of the Nę K’ǝ Dene Ts’ı̨ lı̨ Forum.
