Michelle is a graduate student at the University of Alberta and is pursuing a Master of Art in Recreation and Leisure Studies. Her research examines tourism development in the Canadian Rockies to probe the context of conservation politics and development decisions. Michelle has also completed a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta with coursework in biology, nutrition, and food science. She is currently employed as a Communications Intern for the Canadian Mountain Network and a Teaching Assistant for the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation.
Michelle volunteers with the Sierra Club of Canada Foundation, Edmonton Chapter, and is a board member of the North Saskatchewan River Valley Conservation Society. She previously worked as a student advisor and manager and brings a diverse skill-set and interdisciplinary background to the Canadian Mountain Network.
Outside of work Michelle enjoys horse-riding, hiking, dog-walking, and snowshoeing.
